Versioned contract

Search tracked measures, retrieve maintained jurisdiction baselines, compare markets, and ask policy questions through a versioned REST API and a small MCP server.
Metadata, jurisdiction profiles, individual measures, constrained search, comparisons, and typed changes are open. Search always requires a substantive query or filter. There is no bulk catalogue endpoint.

Measures and baseline instruments carry official-source links. Unsupported URL schemes are removed.
The full request and response schemas are in the OpenAPI contract. Every response includes the Radar release, coverage dates, attribution, and machine-readable notice.
/v1/metaRelease, coverage counts, categories, sectors, and discovery links.
/v1/jurisdictionsAll tracked global jurisdictions and US states.
/v1/jurisdictions/{code}One jurisdiction profile and its measure counts. Maintained narrative baselines are included where available.
/v1/measures/{id}One measure, status, categories, date, and official-source URL.
/v1/searchConstrained, cursor-paginated search. Maximum page size: 50.
/v1/compareDeterministic comparison for two to five jurisdiction codes.
/v1/changesTyped policy or coverage changes. Enrichment is excluded from the default policy feed.
/v1/answersCatalogue-grounded answers with automatic official-source research. Developer key required.
Preview keys are free. A key permits ten automatic answers and two forced live-research answers per UTC day. Public deterministic reads do not use this allowance.
curl https://api.aipolicyradar.com/v1/answers \

-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Idempotency-Key: my-request-001' \
-d '{"question":"Which US states have enacted AI hiring rules?","mode":"auto"}'The public endpoint exposes five deterministic read tools. The authorized endpoint adds ask_policy_radar and uses the same developer key and answer allowance as REST.

ask_policy_radar
All MCP tools return JSON text and valid structuredContent. The structured result includes release provenance, attribution, and the same policy-research notice as REST.
| Operation | Limit | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Metadata and direct retrieval | 120 per IP per minute | Open |
| Search and changes | 30 per IP per minute | Open |
| Automatic answer | 10 per key per UTC day | Developer key |
| Forced live research | 2 per key per UTC day | Developer key |
Quota responses include X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining, and X-RateLimit-Reset. A 429 response also states the reset time and points higher-volume users to hello@aipolicyradar.com.
Human documentation is not enough for agent systems. Every response and MCP structured result carries the same compact envelope.

The default policy feed includes only verified external movement.Public analysis materially based on Radar results should state: “Data accessed through AI Policy Radar,” together with the response release and data-as-of date. Official sources remain controlling.
The preview does not offer a bulk catalogue download. Do not use the API to reconstruct or commercially republish the maintained compilation, editorial summaries, or full catalogue. Reasonable caching, research, citation, application features, and agent retrieval are welcome. For higher volume, commercial redistribution, or private monitoring, contact hello@aipolicyradar.com.
Released August 14, 2026. Aligns the version convention, adds explicit resolved scope to search responses, and distinguishes maintained national baselines from measure-level US state profiles.
Added open deterministic REST reads, typed changes, developer keys, generated answers, OpenAPI, agent discovery through llms.txt, and public and authorized MCP endpoints.
